Hello to everyone experiencing what I have been through for years.

From my personal experience, I can confidently say that your gut is the gateway to your health. It has taken me multiple years to sort out my health issues, and I have visited many doctors. Unfortunately, my concerns often fell on deaf ears. What I also discovered is that most doctors do not have enough knowledge about nutrition. They tend to be dismissive when you explain your issues or send you for an array of blood tests. These tests are expensive, and once the results come back, they often prescribe more medications that compound side effects like allergies, digestive issues, food sensitivities, celiac disease, hormonal imbalances, energy problems, vitamin deficiencies, depression, stress, stomach infections, brain fog, respiratory infections, sugar cravings, and more. This can also lead to chronic illnesses such as fibromyalgia and arthritis. Studies have shown that these problems are linked to bacterial overgrowth in the small and large intestine.

Please do not get me wrong – doctors are essential for serious ailments. However, women are more prone to these issues due to hormone fluctuations. For example, monthly medications like “The Pill” can increase hormone levels, causing damage to the intestinal lining. Fitting a “copper T” may initially cost more but is a better option as it does not manipulate your hormones and lasts for up to five years.

Unfortunately, everything seems to be about a quick fix, which has its pros and cons. Over-the-counter medications and quick fixes can lead to damaged digestive systems, profoundly impacting your gut health.

Let us be honest; there is no quick fix.

To start improving your health, let us focus on removing inflammation and toxic foods. You need to be willing to change your eating habits and commit to a new way of living. By following our suggestions for a FODMAP diet, you will start to see and feel the difference in your body. You will gradually but surely regain your health. You do not have to be trapped in a body filled with pain, fatigue, and misery.

**Suggestion 1: Heal Your Gut**

To get to the root cause of your health issues, we begin by addressing your gut with our Digestive Defence. This will help with intestinal repair, inflammation response, and nutrient absorption while you adopt your new eating habits. Repairing your gut does require you to cook simple, easy meals.

**Suggestion 2: Lower Your Toxin Intake**

Avoid:

– Processed foods/smoked foods (a braai is still fine 😊). Eat whole foods (protein, vegetables, and small amounts of starch).

– Smoking and vaping.

Alcohol. If you wish to consume alcohol, the best options are distilled vodka, tequila, or whiskey (avoid sugar loaded soda mixers).

– Unnecessary medications.

– Reduce stress!!!

Keep in mind: no gluten, no lectin, no sugar, no lactose, no soybeans, and no sulphates. Drink 8 cups of water per day. If you do not like plain water, add slices of fruit like orange, lemon, strawberries, fresh mint, or cucumber for a refreshing touch.

I know this sounds extremely difficult, but it becomes easier once you get into the habit.

Do not stress! Our “Recipes” tab will give you suggestions for breakfast, lunch, dinner, alcohol, snacks, and homemade ice cream – the best lactose-free dessert ever. 😊

**N.B.** The secret is to prepare in advance to avoid gut health pitfalls. Carry gut-healthy snacks with you. We have suggestions under “Snacks” recipes.

When invited to friends and family for a meal, bring a side dish that everyone can eat but is gut-friendly for you. You will not go home hungry.

When out and about, having a survival kit like our Abdominal Relief is helpful to tackle flare-ups or something that disagrees with you, like bloating or stomach pain. This will help you stay cool, calm, and collected.

**Suggestion 3: Exercise**

Moderate exercise is advised to reduce stress levels: walking, swimming, yoga, meditation, and listening to music.
